Testimonials

I bought my KNK element a couple of years ago. Recently I started working with it again and it would not operate. Sandy has patiently guided me through the whole process of getting it working again. She also helped me getting MTC to communicate with my KNK.
She is just Amazing! A big thank you from Hélène (Sweden)

Here are the instructions for this:

    (1) Unplug the USB cable from your cutter

    (2) Go to this link, scroll down to the table and on the far right site you’ll see “setup executable”… click on that link, download, extract, and run it.

    https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

    (3) After running that file, reboot Windows and wait for Windows to fully come back up.

    (4) Then connect the USB cable to your computer, turn on the cutter and wait like 15 seconds or so.

    (5) RIGHT click on Windows start button and select Device Manager

    (6) Look for a Ports folder in Device Manager. Open it and, if your computer installed the driver and found the cutter, then it should say USB-Serial Port (Com X).

    (7) Open your software and give it a try.

Hi Cece! SOOOO good to hear from you! I assume you’re using KNK Studio still? Not sure why the files would open up blank. Maybe email one of them to me. And I’ll send you a file to test. Look for an email from me. We’ll get it figured out. 🙂

    Sandy,
Cece here. I haven’t used my Groove-e for a while and plan to get back to using it. When I try to open a file, I get a blank. Not sure why this is happening. Hopefully, it is a quick fix because I have a lot of files I’ve collected over the many years of using KNK. THANK YOU!

Hi Sandy: Over the years of owning my Zing cutter you and your site have been very helpful. I recently set up a web site for my ceramics (kenhorstmanstudios.com) I have had questions of how I make my patterns and designs for my pottery. I spoke of my Zing Cutter and linked to KNK. I now realize that a lot has changed and a different type of cutter is offered etc… So I would like to add a link to this site as it has such good information on cutters and you are always so helpful. I hope this is okay.

I received your email and answered your questions that way. 🙂

Hi, I am in the Orlando area and selling my KNK Maxx Air 24″. I literally used it once and bought it when it first came out. The learning curve is just too much for me and I have no one to teach me. Pus I hate using my Dell computer and prefer to use my Mac Book.

I bought it for $1200 and am will to sell it for $700. Let me know if anyone is interested. I really just want to get rid of it and get the new Cameo 4!

Yes, you should be able to install and use both KNK Studio and MTC on your new computer. I do!

For KNK Studio, you’ll need your 10 digit Activation Pin that looks like this: XXXX XXXX XX. Do you have that number? When you get your new computer, wait until you get everything else installed and everything is working well before installing KNK Studio because you can only attempt to register it once per year. If you end up having to do a Restore of Windows, the registration will be nullified for the next 12 months.

For MTC, you’ll need the registration number that was emailed to you after you registered MTC. If you no longer have that email, here’s a document showing you ways to retrieve it: https://www.iloveknk.com/Support/Tutorials/Make-The-Cut/Retrieving-MTC-and-PCS-Registrations.pdf

I have a Maxx Klic N Kut (several years old now) and I am planning on getting a new laptop with a Windows 10 operating system. Can I still use the KNK software and Make the Cut as well?
I thought I read that there were problems with this…but it was more about getting the License or dongle number transferred to the new computer—is this true? Exactly what do I need to do?
Any recommendations or is it as simple as that?

  11. Sandy McCauley

    Hi Michele,

Is your KNK white or yellow? And do you have access to your original CD where the license files for the dongle would be kept? Maybe email me at smccauley45@cox.net so that I will see your responses sooner. Thanks!

I have a a newer computer that runs windows 10, my old computer got stolen. Now I can’t get my software to send files to my machine. I have an older klick n kut that has a purple dongle and then that funny adapter that changed the pin cord to a USB.
So do you have a tutorial that will help me get this set up again?
    Thanks,
    -Michele Wilcoxson

I don’t personally sell them and I don’t know if KNK USA would still have any. But you can find by starting a support ticket at their site:

    Good luck!

    Hello Sandy

I bought a KNK MAXX cutter for my wife some years ago to cut fondant with. We’ve basically never used the machine, it’s still brand new. Last week I sent my daughter for training on the machine (she took our machine with her). We were told that our machine’s PC board for some reason had burnt out and needs to be replaced. To do so will cost almost 60% of the cost we paid for the cutter. I therefore wish to import a PC board and fit it myself. Hopefully you sell this part, if not it be appreciated if you please send me a contact address.

    Thanks
    John

Ok so I got the files I needed to get the software set up and have it all set up. I have the pen attachment and have it drawing pictures for me but the blade cartridge slips out so I am guessing it is not the proper cartridge. Do you have any suggestions were i can get a blade cartridge for my KNK Element?

  17. Jon

Thank you very much for all your help.
