I have a KNK Element and have not been able to master it properly, and thought that this may be a good place to start.

  2. Sandy McCauley says:

Also have a look at the Support link here. I highly recommend you join some Yahoo groups and start asking a LOT of questions. That’s a great way to get information and find out what you need to know to be successful with your Element.

  3. I bought a new knk 24 and have NO idea where to start. Shall i try your videos first?

  4. Sandy McCauley says:

The first thing to do is read the recommended sections that I listed on page 1 of the printed Maxx-Groove-E User Manual that you should have received with your machine. Also, every Maxx dealer must provide a certain level of support, so definitely go to your dealer first with any issues regarding setup, installation, and operation of the machine. They have signed a contract with Accugraphic stating they will assist their customers.

Then consider joining one of the Yahoo groups or the KNK Message Board listed under the Support tab here. Then you can post your list of miscellaneous software and cutting questions as they arise and get help quickly. If you have problems understanding where images will cut, then definitely consider buying my “Understanding the Sign Blank” video. Depending on what you plan to use your Maxx for, there will be other videos that you will find beneficial. Email me any time if you want to discuss.

Where do you buy the motif rubber for the rhinestone templates. Also I already own a Cricut, it won’t cut rhinestone templates what is the least expensive machine that will do a good job cutting rhinestone templates?
    Thanks

  14. Sandy McCauley says:

    To Donna,

I only do phone call support with my own customers. If you purchased your KNK from me then email me with your full name so that I can verify. Otherwise, you can contact Accugraphic for assistance. One thing… if you have an older KNK and your Windows 7 is 64 bit, then you’ll need to be connecting using a serial cable and serial-to-USB converter that are sold at http://www.knkusa.com.

  15. Sandy McCauley says:

    To Lauri,

Accugraphic (www.knkusa.com) sells a green motif rubber that will cut on the Cricut, however, you may have problems designing circle templates.

The Groove-E is a terrific machine for cutting rhinestone templates because it has the force needed to handle any of the rubbers used for rhinestone templates and the software is just amazing for designing patterns. Have a look under Support here at this site. Click on Special Rhinestone Section and then click on Videos.

Hi Sandy, I recently bought a KnK Groove. I am able to cut text on cardstock with no problem. I have tried to cut chipboard (a basic 8X8 square) but I am having problems with the material skewing. I made sure I have the correct blade and that it is inserted to the correct depth for the chipboard and set in the holder at the correct height. I also tried switching the blades just to make sure I had the correct one. I have tried cutting it at the slowest speed, minimal pressure and multiple passes. I have tried cutting with the chipboard attached to the plastic carrier sheet as well as two pieces of chipboard taped together. I have also tried taping an additional layer of chipboard. If you have any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Dawn Lowe

One thing that will definitely work is to have a custom mat made for your Groove-E that is just a tiny tiny bit wider than the opening in your Groove-E. The mat will have no way to skew during the cut. I had one made for my Maxx just to test out, and it worked perfectly.

If you decide to do this, very carefully measure the interior opening of your machine and then add ~1/32″. The idea is to make absolutely certain that the mat won’t be smaller. Even if it’s a hair too wide, it can be inserted at a very slight angle to fit and it will not skew.

  18. Dawn Lowe says:

Thank you Sandy. I will try making the carrier sheet very snug. Hopefully that will do the trick! Dawn

HI, I am thinking of buying a klic n klac and your comparison sheet says that the new Grove e which will be released june of 2010 has many of the same features as the Maxx. I have not been able to find the new groove e though… Has it not been released yet? Wondering if I should wait. thank you

  20. Sandy McCauley says:

    Hi Carol,
I can’t believe my table showed June 2010! It’s supposed to read June 2009 and what’s REALLY bizarre is that I assumed it was just a typo but when I opened my spreadsheet I found June 09 typed in the field! lol

Anyhow, I’m VERY happy you asked because I needed to get this fixed and in a few moments, my table will be correct at the site. : )

The Groove-E’s are at http://www.knkusa.com. Under Machines in the left column, click on Klic-N-Kut. You’ll see a photo of the Groove-E and you can click on it to bring up the details.

  21. I interested in the KNK Grovee and was wondering if I will have the capability to transfer some sort of etching to wine glasses. I might not be wording that just right… but I want to be able to personalize wine glasses with an etching look.

  22. Sandy McCauley says:

Absolutely! You can cut any of the vinyls that are typically used for stenciling with the etching cream. And the ability to design anything you want to cut will allow you to customize and even create your own images from scratch. Email me at smccauley45@cox.net if you’d like to discuss further. :)

I have a KNK Element that I purchased 3 to 4 years ago. My computer crashed and I had to reformat the Hard drive. I had the KNK Studio Element Program installed. When I went to reinstall that same program I am getting an error message -5005 Ox80070015. I tried to reinstall several times without success. I have a feeling that the installation disk is defective. The OS is Windows XP sp3. I do have the license CD and of course the dongle. What would you suggest? Thanks for your assistance. :) Sharon

  24. Sandy McCauley says:

The CD’s are known to become corrupt. You can obtain Version 8 for the Older KNK’s right here. Click on the Support tab above and then the Software Downloads link. There you will find a folder for Version 8 for older KNK’s. Please read the instruction file in that folder carefully. Post if you have any problems.

    Hi, Sandy:

I have had my KNK for a year now, & with you help, I love my KNK. Thank you for always being so patient when I had so many questions.
