Sandy, been watching your videos and looking at your site. I’m currently doing rhinestones but having no cutter I’m depending on a few of my friends. Course the problem is I can’t spend the time perfecting my skills because of limited access time to the machines. I really would like to get a desktop machine, but mostly for developing my skills (advanced skills, I can do the simple stuff). Would the Craft Robo work? Or do I need to be in the $1100-$1500 range?
I think your best choice is right in-between… the Groove-E. The Craft Robo is quite slow and known to pause during cutting long projects to cool off. Also, the software that comes with the CR can’t do rhinestone patterns, thus you would want to at least purchase KNK Studio GE with the CR, thus you’re spending a minimum of $388 for a system. The Groove-E is $599 and offers a LOT more. The software you need is included and you get a machine that is several times faster (at the speed you would cut your patterns), has 4 times the maximum cutting force, and can cut up to 13″ in width whereas the CR is limited to 8″. This allows you the option of cutting a wider range of materials, such as the iron-on transfer that often accompanies rhinestone designing on T-shirts.
I am looking at the groove e and also cr and silohett, my ? Is with the groove does it do rhinestones and laser engraving as the other two claim to do. My other ? is, is it the cutters a better prduct according to the pricing. Thanks for what ever help you have to offer.

The CR and Silhouette do not do laser engraving. In fact, they cannot engrave at all because they are low force machines (maximum cutting force of ~200 – 230g). The Groove-E has almost 5 times more cutting force with a maximum rating of 950g. It can engrave using the engraving tool, sold separately.
All three can cut rhinestone rubber for making templates, however the CR and Silh do not come with rhinestone designing software, whereas the Groove-e comes with KNK Studio which is superb for rhinestone design.
You can purchase KNK Studio GE, a software package for the CR and Silhouette which will allow you to design and cut rhinestone patterns, so definitely keep that in mind.
Also important: the Groove-E cut up materials up to 13″ wide whereas the CR and Silhouette are limited to 8″ wide cutting.
