You can draw with ANY pen you can get mounted into the grip on the machine! Try it and see if it works!

And don't be afraid of cutting. Once you know exactly where your images will draw, you're ready to start cutting! : ) You need to start cutting so that you can make a LOT of mistakes! Yes... mistakes! Because it is in making these mistakes that we learn the world doesn't come to an end and you start to learn what to do to avoid those mistakes. Then you start to master your KNK and gain confidence! Then you're on the road to be a success!

And feel free to keep posting questions or even email me directly at smccauley45@cox.net.

Hi Sandy! Thank you for all the information on this site. I have only used my knk maxx once, during a pen test so I'm a little nervous to try much else, yet. I was wondering if you know whether the knk can use chalk to draw with? Or a chalk pen? Sorry if its a silly question, I couldnt find any information elsewhere.

Thanks!

The older KNK Element cannot use the Zing accessories or blades, so definitely do not purchase those.

The blades that you will use in the original silver blade holder are listed here:

http://knkusa.com/?page_id=8&shopp_category=18

Note that with the Fabric Blade you need the cap on your holder that has the larger diameter. So, first measure that diameter to the nearest mm and let me know what it is... IF you are interested in buying the fabric blade. I will get KNK USA to see if they still have the replacement caps.

Yes... It's on my list to get some sections added to Chapter 10 to cover the tools. I didn't receive them in advance of the users and my time for the past few months has been devoted to tech support for the new Zing owners. So, I need to set aside some time to determine the best settings and tips to share in the manual. If you find out anything on your own, please do let me know!

Sandy, I'm a new user to the Zing and to MTC and have a question.

When purchasing the Zing I went ahead and ordered the punch, embossing, and engraving tools as well. I've been working my way through the MTC User manual and find no mention of these tools and a general strategy of how to use them. Would it be reasonable to assume that the MTC User Manual will be updated appropriately at some point or will you and/or the KNK team be authoring some separate written or video tutorials that illustrate how to use these other tools? I have seen the you tube video(s) that show that embossing/engraving is possible but there wasn't too much there in the way of how-to.

Thanks so much for your help.

Yes, I still offer phone classes. :) Just click on the Shop tab and you'll see the pricing. Note that I'm also in the process of making more MTC videos, as well, to cover a range of topics. These videos are linked from within the Zing User Manual or you can find them in the Support section of this site, as well.

Same answer applies to both questions! :) The blade holder is adjustable so that you only expose the amount of blade required to cut through your decal paper and not the backing sheet. This is how a number of materials are cut including vinyl and iron-on transfer. I have a video which shows how to adjust the Maxx blade holder.
