About me:

I live in Tempe, Arizona with my husband of 24 years and we have two sons, ages 23 and 21. I have a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M and worked for Exxon in Texas for 7 years before having my first child. After my boys were born, I became a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Once they were both in school, I split my time between volunteering at my sons’ schools and having part-time software support jobs.

My aunt convinced me to try scrapbooking in 1998 and I became instantly addicted. And then, when the first Craft Robo die cutters were released in the USA, I found an entirely NEW passion… digital die cutting. That grew even more after the Klic-N-Kuts were released and I was very honored to be hired by Accugraphic Sales, Inc to write the user manuals for the Klic-N-Kuts and ACS cutters.

I provide education and support for Klic-N-Kut, ACS,  Silhouette, Craft Robo, and Wishblade. I’ve also created a series of videos for KNK Studio, KNK Studio GE, ACS Design Studio, and Design Master. I plan to continue expanding the videos to cover more cutters and more software topics. I teach classes by phone / VNC to cutter owners everywhere and teach at KNK Retreats around the country several times a year. That’s another great passion I have… the love of teaching and helping others learn their cutters. Very satisfying.
:-)

I want to thank the following wonderful people for their contributions and hard work to support my business:

  • Stacey Briggs for tracking sales and expenses, maintaining the customer database, and helping prepare for the KNK retreats.
  • Michael and James McCauley for setting up the downloadable store, adding products, developing store graphics, troubleshooting problems, mailing packages, shopping for supplies, and all the other dozens of tasks that were required to build this business.
  • Chad Youngblut for teaching me how to cut and everything he knows about KNK Studio. I also want to thank Chad for rebuilding and continuing to provide tech support for this site.
  • Kaleigh Colton for photographing samples for the Gallery
  • Lisa Stewart for getting my blog moved to this site and teaching me to use Word Press.
  • Chris Durnan for urging me to start a blog! Great idea, Chris!

Will the Klick N Kut Element that is being offered for sale on your website cut Rhinestone templates?

    2. Sandy McCauley says:

That machine has been sold, but the answer is definitely “yes”. All of the KNK’s (past and present) will cut the various rhinestone rubbers used to make templates. :)

    3. staci biggs says:

Do you know of any other used Klick N Kut’s for sale? I would like to get started making stencils. I am currently using transfers.

    4. staci biggs says:

Do you have a contact number? I would like to talk to you about your software/knk.

    5. Sandy McCauley says:

It appears that Accugraphic has a refurbished Maxx right now… http://www.knkusa.com. I don’t take calls on weekends but you can email me and we can set up a time to talk on Monday.

My husband purchased me a Klic n Kut sometime ago. We started renovations on our house and I have yet to use it. I would not even know where to begin. He purchased it from Paper Threads. I have only used a Cricut in the past. I am very anxious to get started. With the help of my sister in law we tried to hook it up over the weekend and we were unsuccessful I think it’s because I am running the office2007 package. Can you tell me what I need to do to learn how to use this wonderful machine.

      Thank you so much
      Donna

    7. Sandy McCauley says:

Donna, if your KNK was purchased from Paper Threads, Michelle will provide you free instruction on setting it up and learning it! If she cannot do it for some reason, then I sell classes in my store here. Consider purchasing a 90 minute class and in that 90 minutes, I can teach you everything you need to know about operating your KNK and will have you cutting cardstock shapes by the end of the class. Note: Office 2007 is not related to KNK and will not affect your setup, however there are quite a few settings that you need to go over. Depending on which KNK you purchased and your Windows operating system, you may need an additional converter cable for 64 bit communication.

    8. Michelle says:

      Hi Sandy,

I purchased a used KNK Element (that you kindly listed for the owner here). Unfortunately, I just do not have the time to craft and the machine is sitting in my craft room unused. Do you know of anyone looking for a gently used machine?

Please feel free to email me privately to discuss.

      Thanks so much,
      Michelle

I downloaded your cupcake wrapper but can’t open them. What program do i need to open them.
      Absolutely love them. Beautiful work.

      Thanks,
      Tami

    10. Sandy McCauley says:

Which format did you download? The KNK opens in KNK Studio. The AI opens in Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, and Funtime. The SVG opens in Inkscape, Sure Cuts a Lot, and Make the Cut.

    11. Chad Fuller says:

We have just gotten into the embroidery and applique business. We mostly do Appliqués and we are looking for a cutter that we can feed our designs into. What would you recommend?

    12. Sandy McCauley says:

I highly recommend the KNK machines and any of the models will work for cutting a number of different fabrics. If you haven’t had a chance yet, look in the Photo Gallery here and see Janie’s appliqués. These were done on the KNK Groove-e.

What file format are your designs? KNK Studio can import a wide range of both raster and vector formats. I’ll email more information to you. : )

    13. Christi T says:

I found your blog while searching for had files, and I love it. I am just starting out using my silhouette SD. So far so good. Anyway I thought I would leave a message to tell you about a new vinyl for craft cutting machines. It is printable vinyl for your ink jet printer. It come in 81/2 x 11 and is waterpproof. I use it and print out scrapbook paper and other things like pictures and clip art, then I cut it with my machine. I just launched the product on Jan.5, 2011. Anyway I thought you might be interested in this new media. You should check my web page out and try it if you have a chance you will love it! My web page is http://WWW.cricketcandy.com. thanks for your blog it is really Great!!

    14. France says:

i’ve been coming back here since 2009 because i was looking for a machine for scrapbooking. (i was really really ecstatic when i saw the range of materials the KNK machines could cut for my personal and gift giving purposes) but now im looking at the KNK for our humble shirt and print business and looking into expanding our product and services line using this wonderful machine. do you ship internationally? (Asia?) :)

    15. Sandy McCauley says:

Yes, we do! However, Accugraphic only accepts payment from non-USA customers via a bank wire transfer.

    16. France says:

OH OH OH!!!! YAY!!! THAT’S SUPER COOL!!!
will the warranty still be there if we buy from you? i have a few more questions but i’ll email them instead. :D

    17. Sandy McCauley says:

Yes… the warranty is the same and I will provide you the same free education support package. I do need you to send me an email first so that I can let Accugraphic know you will be my customer and I can provide you the email address for the person at Accugraphic who will help with the info for the wire transfer.

    18. Jeanne says:

Your wonderful flower files were brought to my attention on a Yahoo MTC site. I’m blown away by how you created these. Thanks so much.

    22. INA says:

      Dear Sandy,
We’d like to purchase the 60×60 cm plastic carrier mat for my KKNK machine but at this time it is not available in South Africa. The supplier here is Scrap-a-doodles and they have none in stock. We have a contact in Illinois who will be sending stock to my husband’s company next week. If you are near to Illinois, he might purchase from you and send it to us with our order that is placed with his Safety Company. Please advise urgently. Thanks.
      Ina

    23. Sandy McCauley says:

      Hi Ina,
I don’t sell accessories, myself. However, your contact can order directly from Accugraphic’s site and should be able to get the mats in about 4 days. Just be sure to order the ones that are for the Maxx (assuming that’s what you own… a Maxx or Groove or Groove-e!)
      http://scrapbookdiecutter.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=KNK&Category_Code=KNKACC

    24. INA says:

      Dear Sandy

Thank you for your speedy reply. I’ve checked the website and we are planning to visit Florida before June and will therefore purchase directly. Thanks for your help.
Take care and all the best. Ina

    25. Candice says:

      Dear Sandy,

I am interested in designing boxes on the KNK MAXX. Do you have any videos that can give me an idea on how to go about doing this, I have no idea where to start and can’t seem to find anything in the user manual.

      Thank You.
      Candice

    26. Sandy McCauley says:

I would start with some basic templates and go from there. You should be able to google “Free box patterns” or “Free box templates” and find some files. Often, you’ll find PDF versions to download and they will import into KNK Studio and be ready to cut! But even if they’re raster images, it’s very easy to manually trace basic patterns like a box.

    27. Laura says:

      Hi Sandy!

I am thinking about buying a die cutting machine and was wondering if you can help me figure out which one! I am wanting to ONLY cut wool felt. Small shapes mostly. I want to be able to use some of my own images (via scanning them in).. I will be cutting a decent amount. I’m thinking KNK Groove-E but I don’t even know where they start price wise? Can you help??

      Thank you!
      Laura

    28. Sandy McCauley says:

Our fabric blade should work on cutting the felt as long as your images are reasonable. For example, you cannot cut out small letters or intricate designs! But if you are wanting to cut simple shapes, like I show in my Photo Gallery, then you should be okay. I’d like to discuss further, so please email me at smccauley45@cox.net.

    29. Peanuts says:

      Hi Sandy,

I live in the Deer Valley area and am trying to find a local company where I can purchase vinyl for rhinestone templates. I did get some that was 33 mil thick and works great for large stones, but need something 15 mil to 18 mil for the smaller stones. Do you by chance know of a place where I could get this thickness vinyl. I did order some, but it is backordered until March 15, and I have a order I need to fill. Thanks for any help, Peanuts

    30. Sandy McCauley says:

I get all of mine from Accugraphic. But, I went to the Hartco site and you can put in your zip and it will show the nearest dealers for Hartco materials. You’ll be able to call them and find someone who sells it here in Phoenix.

I also live in az and I am looking to purchase an affordable cutter for rhinestone templates. Where can I see a demo of the Groove cutter? I also need software.
      Thanks,

    32. Sandy McCauley says:

I’m in Tempe and I can give you a demo. Please email me at smccauley45@cox.net.

    33. Alisa Orford-Roberts says:

      Hi Sandy,

It’s Alisa here, from Australia. If you were any closer I’d kiss you. Don’t freak out LOL!
I’ve just finished watching your YouTube video on Print and Cut using MTC.
Finally, a video that goes from start to finish. I’ve wasted 3 days messing around with all sorts of calculations, settings, blah, blah, blah.
Your video has sorted me out and my PNC was perfect.
Thank you doesn’t quite do it, but it’s all I have.
      Thanks so much!!!!

    34. Sandy McCauley says:

      Hi Alisa,

You’re welcome and thank you so much for letting me know that the video worked well for you. I do try to be thorough. :)

    35. Don Alexander says:

      Hello,

I forwarded a request directly to knkusa……….but as of yet – no response…..so here goes…

      - will the cutter cut from rolls – I want to do print and cut labels………I would print from my epson 1400 or the 2200 and them laminate and contour cut….how well does the cutter track…..or how long can the cutting mat be………can I make a custom mat longer than 24 long
      - can it cut magnet stock 30mil?
      - I want to do puzzles… custom coasters … pop-ups…ETC
      - will you or they ship to Toronto, Canada?
      - what would the approx. cost be?
      - and how would a warranty/support work?

      thank you in advance

      Don.

    36. Sandy McCauley says:

      Hi Don,

I have forwarded your questions directly to KNK USA and I WILL have a response for you tomorrow.

We have a dealer now in Canada, as well, and I’ll make sure you get his email/web site included in the response.

Thanks for posting here! I’m always eager to make sure all interested KNK owners get the answers they need.

    37. Leslie says:

Hi Sandy, I recently purchased the ACS Eagle and I am a bit overwhelmed with everything is there a video or anything that would be easier for me to get started using this. Would appreciate anything! Thanks Leslie

    38. Sandy McCauley says:

      Hi Leslie,

      Yes… start here:
      http://www.iloveknk.com/support/new-owner-info/

And then think about joining one of the Yahoo groups where you can ask questions and get help. Note that your dealer is also responsible for making sure you get up and running smoothly.

    39. Leslie says:

okay great thanks. I purchased from them directly.

    40. grace fuentes says:

Hello Sandy, Imet with you recently for a demo of the click n cut. I now own a bengal cutter and winpcsign 2010. Do you provide training for this software ?
      Thanks,
      Grace 520-280-6481

    41. Sandy McCauley says:

Sorry! No, I do not support WinPC Sign.

    42. Gina Gray says:

      Hello Sandy,

I have been on t-shirt forums and I wish I would have found all of this information before purchasing my Graphtec- CE-5000. I saw on tshirt forums that the ACS software works with the Graphtec. I had purchased another rhinestone software that works with Corel Draw. But since I am not Coreldraw literate, it is a horrible experience for me. Should I purchase ACS and how do I do that?

    43. Sandy McCauley says:

Email me privately… I would like to get more information about your experience and also what kind of designing you wish to do.

    44. khadejha says:

hi: whaere is the dealer in canada, please thxs k

    45. Sandy McCauley says:

I’ll need to go look up the info so I’ll just email it to you once I find it.

    46. Rita says:

I would also like to know who the dealer is in Canada. Could you please let me know?

      Tks
      Rita

    47. Bob says:

      Hi Sandy,

I’m thinking of buying the 24″ ACS Eagle mostly to cut 7 mil mylar for custom stencils and sandblast resist for glass etching. I don’t see blades/holders specifically for the Eagle, do you know if the MAXX blade/holders are interchangeable with the Eagle?.

      Bob

    48. Sandy McCauley says:

Yes, the blade holders are interchangeable. The one that comes with the Eagle is the same as our original black blade holder.

Note that our regular Maxx cutters will also cut 7 mil mylar and sandblast resist.

    49. Bob says:

Any idea if the Zing will cut 7 mil mylar?

    50. Sandy McCauley says:

It should be able to. I’ll ask Chad if they have some in the office to test.
