Installing Beta Inkscape Versions
August 27th, 2008 by Sandy McCauley

Here are three videos to help with the installation of the Inkscape beta version. I meant to create a fourth showing some of the same designing in Inkscape as in the demo, but I ran out of time today. I’ll try to do that tomorrow!

Step 1 Downloading the Inkscape Beta

Step 2 Downloading 7 Zip to Extract Inkscape Beta

Step 3 The Inkscape Non-Install

Thank you so much for the video links. I was wanting to try out the beta version of Inkscape but figuring out the install had me stumped (and I was so psyched about the new features!) Now I have it and can’t wait to try it out!

    Thanks again!

Welcome to my blog! I just discovered that the SCAL users would be interested in this. I’ll try to have more Inkscape tips shared now. :)

I downloaded it too, after someone posted your link on our sure cuts a lot users group on yahoo. Thanks for sharing. I see you can save as .eps, but is there anyway to Open an eps file? I downloaded a lot of free eps files, and have been using Adobe Illustrator to save them as Svg as that is what scal uses. I also changed my default so it shows file extensions. I hate the icons..always look at the list..and it frustrated me not to know what kind of file it was..

    Thanks again.

I don’t think Inkscape can import .eps… which is really weird since it can export as .eps!
